Uniform & Equipment

Northern Education Trust believes that students learn most effectively and achieve their best outcomes when they are comfortable, able to be themselves, and are dressed in such a way that sets an appropriate tone for education.

A consistent academy uniform policy is vital to promote the ethos of the academy and provide a sense of belonging and identity for all students, regardless of their protected characteristics or socio-economic circumstances.

Our uniform policy lays out the measures taken to ensure a consistent, fair and inclusive uniform policy; to implement a uniform that reflects the needs of all students; and a uniform that is affordable and the best value for money for the academy and students’ parents/carers.

Students must wear full academy uniform at all times when they are within the academy or on an academy visit, unless otherwise stated.

Update on School Uniform Policy - May 2026

Required Uniform

• White long or short sleeved shirt
• Black trousers Trousers must be tailored and straight leg – NO skinny leg, leggings or jean material permitted
• Girls can wear a knee length black pleated skirt (skirt must be fully pleated front, back and sides) or they can chose to to wear The Blyth Academy skirt (available from Emblematic)
• Academy black and gold striped tie (available from Emblematic)
• Academy grey blazer (available from Emblematic)
• Plain black socks
• If girls choose to wear a skirt, Tights must be worn. Tights must be plain black, opaque (not patterned) and a minimum of 60 denier. Nothing can be worn over or under tights.
• Plain black flat shoes – NO trainers or trainer style shoes, boots, pumps or canvas shoes (including ‘Vans’) will be permitted. There are to be no embellishments on shoes i.e. buckles, name tags or studs.

Optional Academy Uniform

Plain grey or black V neck jumper.

PE Uniform Requirements

• Plain black T shirt
• Plain black shorts OR jogging pants OR sports leggings
• Black football socks
• Trainers
• Football boots for outdoor sports

Plain black items should have no logo or branding

Optional items:

• Plain black hoodie or sweater
