  • Tribute to Ashton Clothier Tribute to Ashton Clothier

It is with great sadness that I write to inform you of the loss of one of our staff at The Blyth Academy. Miss Ashton Clothier sadly passed away on 16 September 2020.

Ashton has inspired our students at The Blyth Academy since 2015. Her energy and enthusiasm meant that she was born to teach PE and we were very fortunate that she chose to work for us. She was a ball of energy, with an infectious enthusiasm for sports that reached all children and encouraged them to participate and compete in a range of sporting activities and events. Ashton was fearless, often pushing herself to the front of the queue on numerous residential activities. Ashton understood that being a teacher is not just about a lesson, but about the whole child. She was a fantastic form tutor and role model; dedicating much of her time to a range of enrichment activities and the students who needed her support.

We are deeply saddened to have lost such a wonderful, dynamic and inspirational teacher and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

I realise that some students will be deeply affected by this news and so to enable you to support your child at home, there are services out there such as The Child Bereavement UK website at https://www.childbereavementuk.org/ and https://www.cruse.org.uk where you can find the right support. If your son/daughter needs support in the Academy they can speak to their Learning Manager, Mrs Thompson or Mrs King.

On behalf of The Blyth Academy community, our heartfelt condolences go to Ashton’s partner Marc and her family and friends.

An online Book of Condolence has been created – please click here if you would like to leave a message in tribute to her memory.
